Nothing's happened. [12 Jan 2006|12:10pm]
[ mood | okay ]

My life is, as my okay smiley indicates, unexciting and never changing. All I have to address is the fact that I beat Super Mario Bros. 3, and that I'm playing Paper Mario now.

So that's my journal entry. Yeah, you heard me. That's it. Done and done. Hopefully, my life have more variety in the next few days. Goodbye!

I've been playing Super Mario Bros. 3 lately. [09 Jan 2006|02:39pm]
[ mood | okay ]

I can honestly say that I suck at 2D Marios. This game is a classic, but I would be enjoying it a lot more if I didn't die ten times for every time I completed a stage.

From playing both 2D Sonics and Marios, I can honestly say that 2D Sonics are more fun. They both have tremendous level design and good gameplay, but Sonic games are much faster and much less frustrating.

Dying in one hit is too frustrating. In 2D Sonics, you merely lose your rings. The boss battles are MUCH better; that isn't even disputable.

I finished Shadow of the Colossus a few days ago. The ending is confusing; I need to play ICO someday (SotC is its prequel).

So that's today's entry. Tune in next time when I, um, type another entry.

I feel like ranting today. [07 Jan 2006|01:43pm]
[ mood | geeky ]

I just can't bare the thought of Nintendo haters. Everytime I think of Microsoft elitests who can't talk about something without Halo in the title, I cringe.

Nintendo is always referred to as kiddy. This is not true, as the E rating label simply means that the younger gamers have access as well. Does the rating determine difficulty, gameplay, or graphical quality? Absolutely not.

Banjo-Tooie is a great, difficult game with many items to collect and bosses to defeat. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, though a great game, is quite easy with the exception of the puzzles. Guess which is E and which is M? Anyone with the stereotypical view would expect the difficult game to be M since it's "for mature adults," but this actually isn't the case.

People outside of the gaming circle tend to believe that the Gamecube is the inferior console of the three. Of course, preference is totally subjective. If you're referring to graphical quality, you're wrong as the Gamecube is graphically superior to the Playstation 2 (though slightly inferior to the Xbox).

I would not trade Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Resident Evil 4, Wind Waker, Eternal Darkness, and Tales of Symphonia for any six games in the world. Those six games are only available for the Nintendo Gamecube, except Resident Evil 4 which is watered down on the PS2.

Now for the second part of my arguement, Pokehaters. There are countless fans of turnbased RPGs and Nintendo alike who don't like Pokemon. The reason for this is the little kid labeling that its recieved over the span of its insane popularity.

If Harry Potter had an anime series instead of a movie series, would people call it kiddy? In a word, yes. Pokemon has suffered that very fate from its toys, anime, etc. Unfortunately, people are unwilling to try or like Pokemon as a result of peer pressure; I guess I can't hate on those people.

The point is, the Pokemon RPGs are some of the best RPGs out there. Hell, Ign has given five Pokemon games a 10/10. Fans of Final Fantasy, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger, and other TBRPGs should give Pokemon a whirl.

Another thing I have to say about "gamers." FINISH games before you judge them. Seriously; some games get MUCH better as you progress. I can't stand hearing people bash a game that they've only played for two hours.

That's the end of my rant. I needed something to type, because nothing's really happened yet again.

So life's going decently, again. [06 Jan 2006|12:01pm]
[ mood | okay ]

I'm in my average mood as always. Thinks are going decently lately.

I unlocked everything in Mario Kart DS except for Mission 7. Recently, I learned that it could only be unlocked by getting a star on every mission. I've also been playing Shadow of the Colossus.

Shadow of the Colossus is an excellent game that focuses solely on the boss battles. There are sixteen of them, but I've only beaten three of the Colossi so far. I recommend it to any PS2 owner who wants to fight some great bosses.

Nevertheless, there's traveling in the game. It's pleasant, but not very exciting. Still, I'm having lots of fun playing SOTC.

I don't get this Vince Young hype that's going around. Reggie Bush is the best prospect "of all time," so he should be the number one pick right? Wrong, Vince Young because of ONE preformance is being considered. The Texans already took a quarterback number one though (David Carr). I think they should trade their pick and look for value else where.

So that's all for today. Tune in next time when... um... I don't really know. :/

Hello fellow geeks and nerds alike... [02 Jan 2006|06:59pm]
[ mood | okay ]

I am captaingamer, a fan of various videogames such as Pokemon, Zelda, and Metroid.

As you can see, my preference of the three big game developers tends to be Nintendo on most occasions. I would still like my favorites just as much if they were developed by a different developer.

I'm highly anticipating the Nintendo Revolution, the new Super Smash Bros (online yay!), The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (damn delays :( ), and Pokemon Pearl/Diamond for the DS.

This year was a bad year in gaming. Resident Evil 4, God of War, and Mario Kart DS have really been the only games this year that I'd give a superb rating. Resident Evil 4 was my favorite overall though.

I've gotten into old games more than ever before this year; they include Final Fantasy 1 & 2 (Dawn of Souls), Final Fantasy VI (now that's a classic), and Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past.

There isn't a whole lot to me outside of my crave of great videogames. I'm quite skinny; unexpected isn't it? This is because I go outdoors more than most video game "freaks."

I like stats, and for this reason I like sports. However, I only really like watching baseball, football, and basketball. I could tell you the MLB leaders in homers in 2003 (Jim Thome and Alex Rodriguez).

I'm also up to date on current events. My political views are quite liberal, but that doesn't mean that I have trouble tolerating people from BOTH sides of the political spectrum.

So this is my first journal entry. Goodbye!
